The D.R. of the Congo FERI (Fiche Électronique de Renseignement à l’Importation) Certificate is a mandatory cargo tracking document for all shipments to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It contains detailed shipment information, ensuring compliance with import regulations. Without it, shipments may face fines, delays, or denial of entry.
Who Needs a D. R. of the Congo FERI?
- Exporters & Shippers – Must obtain a FERI certificate before shipping goods to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to comply with import regulations.
- Freight Forwarders & Logistics Providers – Responsible for processing the FERI to ensure smooth shipment clearance.
- Importers in D.R. Congo – Must ensure their suppliers secure a valid FERI to avoid fines, delays, or customs issues.
What are the required documents?
- Birth Certificate: An official birth certificate, not older than 3 months.
- National Identity Card or Passport: A valid ID card or passport as proof of identity.
- Secondary School Transcript: Original and certified copies of your secondary school transcripts or academic records.
- BESC Registration Form: A completed registration form for the BESC exam.
- Photocopies of Certificates: Copies of any prior educational certificates you may have, such as the GCE O’level or equivalent.
- Passport-sized Photographs: Recent passport-sized photos (usually 3 or 4).
- Proof of Payment: A receipt or proof of payment for the registration or exam fee.
- Medical Certificate: A medical certificate may be required, depending on the specific instructions from the exam authorities.
- Parental/Guardian Consent: If you are under 18, a signed consent letter from your parent or guardian might be necessary.

You have to validate the FERI certificate after the next five days of departure. If you fail to provide it, your cargo won’t have an entry clearance; and will be sent back to the origin. There is also a penalty that goes up to $2500 plus the cost of the FERI certificate. absent
