What are the required documents?
- Bill of Lading (B/L): This document serves as proof of shipment and outlines the terms between the shipper and the carrier.
- Commercial Invoice: A document from the exporter to the importer, detailing the value, description, and quantity of goods being shipped.
- Packing List: Provides details about how the goods are packed and the contents of each package.
- Certificate of Origin: Verifies the origin of the goods, especially for preferential tariff treatment or import regulations.
- Import/Export License: Required for certain goods, confirming that the parties involved are authorized to carry out import or export activities.
- Customs Declaration: A declaration of the goods being imported, including the proper HS Code classification and value for customs duties.
- Insurance Certificate: If applicable, proof that the goods are insured during transit.
- Container Information: Details about the container(s) used for shipping, including the container number and seal number.
- Freight Invoice: If available, this document provides the charges for transportation services related to the shipment.
The ECTN certificate must be validated five days before the vessel arrives at the destination at the latest. If you fail to provide the certificate, you will be facing a fine twice the amount of the ECTN cost plus the regulation charges determined by the Togolese National Port Officials.
